Appearance
uPVC
uPVC windows typically last between 10 – 15 years before they need replacing.
Fitting double glazing within the uPVC window frames will keep your home well insulated and offer good noise reduction.
Generally low maintenance. Wipe and clean occasionally. However, can become discoloured over time, at which point complete replacement is necessary. Limited repairs and adjustments can be made
The most budget friendly option
uPVC frames are made from plastic and metal, are hard to recycle which means they end up in landfill.
Available in various colours, but the standard finish is white plastic, which may look out of place on some Edinburgh properties and may not comply with local authority regulations
Engineered Timber
Properly maintained timber windows can last for 60 years or even longer. High-quality hardwood is particularly durable
Timber itself is a naturally good insulator, so timber windows can offer slightly better thermal performance than uPVC. Fitting with double-glazing or Fineo glass can improve the u-value and reduce noise significantly
Requires a bit more upkeep in this Scottish weather. We recommend a re-coat of paint or stain every 5 years to protect them from the elements.
Generally more expensive but if you value a longer lifespan, aesthetic and potentially increased property resale value, can be a more cost effective option
Timber is a natural renewable resource. All our timber is FSC certified. Manufacturing requires less energy than uPVC production
Timber windows offer a classic, natural look that compliments Edinburgh’s period properties and can increase kerb-appeal.
Ultra Thin Glazing
Edinburgh’s listed buildings deserve modern comfort. Fineo glass offers superior insulation in a thin profile, perfect for sash & case windows. Enjoy warmth, lower energy bills, and preserved elegance and available with...

Strength
Crafted by layering smaller pieces of wood with the grain running in different directions. This creates a composite material with improved stability and strength.
Stability
Significantly more stable, with minimal to no warping or movement thanks to the cross-laid grain layers. This makes it ideal for windows and doors that need to operate flawlessly year-round.
Factory Paint Finish
Preservation
Factory finishing extends beyond painting. Our engineered wood is crafted under ideal conditions, maintaining optimal humidity and temperature. It’s then sealed with three layers of water-based microporous paint or stain for enhanced durability.
Our timbers undergo proprietary pressure treatment to extend their life, making them highly resistant to rot, decay, and insects. This process stabilises the wood, reducing moisture absorption and preventing the swelling or shrinking that causes gaps and draughts in windows.
Sustainability
Engineered timbers utilise smaller pieces of wood and comes from fast-growing, renewable sources. Less waste and enhanced sustainability.
Consistency
Consistent grain patterns and fewer knots and blemishes. We go through rigorous quality control checks ensuring our windows have no imperfections.

60+ year Lifespan
Our products stand the test of time, boasting a 60+ year lifespan that underscores their exceptional quality and durability. This longevity ensures your investment not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of your property but also contributes to its overall value and sustainability.
